February 2010

_______________________________________________________________

Summer is here and Gianna's Houses are busting at the seams with young and old in sobriety.  Happy Joyous and free!  The hot summers sun and heat is bringing a safe funfilled lifestyle to many, which is so different from what we used to know...

The birth of Gianna's house began with one such life changing event.  Gianna's House is named after and commemorated to Gianna-Rae Taylor Coughlin.  She was born to John Coughlin and Kasondra Taylor on December 12, 2005.  She lived a joyous and love-filled four months.  On April 16, 2006, she went home to God.   She passed on from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  The void of her love and innocence served as a catalyst for John and Kasondra, who were both struggling with addiction, to reach out for help. Gianna was able to give two young adults a glimpse of joy life can bring. Today, almost four years later, her spirit continues to touch all of those who are and have been affiliated with Gianna's House, Inc.  "An angel sent by God with a mission." It is our hope that the mission of recovery continues to be met...one day at a time.

You can be part of that mission!!  On Friday August 27 2010 will be hosting it's first "Gianna's Comedy night and raffle fundraiser.  The event will start at 6pm at the Brookside Country Club.  Tickets will be sold for 100.00 a ticket and the donations--all proceeds will go directly to aiding addicts and alcoholics who are on the road to recovery.  The night will be funfilled with a apperance from Frank Santos Jr.  "The R Rated Hypnotist" and a dinner buffet followed with a raffle.  Please call the Wareham office at 508-273-7076 for more information if you are interested in participating in this charitable event!

**Gianna's House, Inc. is always looking for an opportunity for a community service project. We would like to give back to our community. The residents of Gianna's House are full of talented, hands on people. Please contact us with any ideas you may have.

We currently are providing Sober Living Communities in Wareham and New Bedford and Sandwich. Here, residents re-learn personal responsibilities, (chores, employment, shopping, cooking for themselves, etc.) as well as working on bettering their lives by incorporating the lessons of AA/NA into a daily regiment.

Gianna's House, Inc. has teamed up with a local builder and have put together plans for a sober independent living apartment complex.  The program will consist of 2 bedroom apartments, which will be available first to Gianna's House residents. At this point, the resident will have proven that they have a strong foundation and work a program of recovery.  The resident will be self supporting and be able to live accordingly, though still residing in the safety of a sober community. Residents will have some general requirements to be fulfilled weekly, keeping the resident vigilant with their recovery process.
